Input Mode

Input Mode select box determines how the biofeedback/neurofeedback software will communicate with the CogniVideo device. These settings interact with the settings below it. To make a selection, click on the desired mode so that it is highlighted.

Sound/Silence Detection

With this setting, sound will be detected on the Audio In or Digital In connector, which should be connected to some audio source. Please see Audio Control for the steps to connect this. This is the default setting.

In this mode, the CogniVideo device performs "zero-crossing detection" of the audio signal. This means that if the audio signal crosses the zero-volts axis and rises to a minimum amplitude, then detection will be declared.

If this option is selected, the following settings function as follows:

Invert Reward Polarity
If this box is checked, detection will be declared during silence, and non-detection during sound.
Simulate Sound/Switch
If this box is checked, the CogniVideo device will act as if sound is detected, even if silence exists.

Switch Logic Input

This setting changes from detecting sound on the Audio In or Digital In connector to detecting a Short or Open between the Tip and Sleeve of that connector. Please see Logic Control for the steps to connect this.

If this option is selected, the following settings function as follows:

Invert Reward Polarity
Simulate Sound/Switch
If this box is checked, the CogniVideo device will act as if the switch is closed, even if the switch is open.

Soft Control

The Soft Control mode allows direct control of the control value the USB interface only. When this setting is established, the Audio In or Digital In connector is ignored and the input is only provided by in the Soft Control Value field. Biofeedback product vendors can obtain the interface specification from Cognisys so that only the USB cable is necessary, and the control value can be determined by the underlying biofeedback software.

When the Soft Control Value changes, the Audio Detect Indicator will momentarily blink.

If this option is selected, the following settings function as follows:

Soft Control Value
The value entered in this box (0-15) is used directly to control the video output. To get the setting to be sent to the device, you must tab or click on another control.

Zone Bit

The Zone Bit mode allows direct control of the control value through the USB interface only. When this setting is established, the Audio In or Digital In connector is ignored and the input is only provided by checking the Simulate Sound/Switch checkbox. The unit acts exactly as if the Switch/Logic input has been detected. Biofeedback product vendors can obtain the interface specification from Cognisys so that only the USB cable is necessary.

If this option is selected, the following settings function as follows:

Invert Reward Polarity
Simulate Sound/Switch
This checkbox directly controls the detected state.
