Overview:

For biofeedback equipment that does not provide a logic output, the FMP device will detect sound or silence from your Biofeedback System from the audio output (speaker) jack.

Step 1: Test Audio Output

Plug a speaker or headphone into the speaker or headphone output of the Biofeedback System PC, or use the integrated speakers, if present.

Test that you can get SOUND during intervals when you want the DVD to play, and silence when you want it to PAUSE.

Step 2: Connect FMP

Unplug the speaker or headphones you used in Step 1 and Plug the supplied 3.5mm "Audio Dubbing" Cable to that same jack. Plug the other end of the Control Cable to the FMP device, at the Audio-In/Digital-In connector.

Step 3: Activate Audio Mode

Using the BioMedia Application, set the Input Mode to Sound/Silence Detection and then click Save Settings.

Turn the Threshold Knob on the front panel of the FMP about halfway through the adjustment range.

Step 4: Test FMP Response

Click PLAY - STOP - PLAY - STOP on Microsoft Media Player or RealNetworks RealPlayer and verify that the Audio Detect Indicator matches the state of the sound.

Adjust the Threshold Knob until this works reliably.

Step 5: Test System Response

You may want to test your biofeedback software to make sure you get the same results when you go over or under the threshold.

Notes:

Dynamic Threshold:

You will want to set up your Biofeedback software so that it uses a dynamic threshold, and set it so that your subject is 85% to 90% successful.

Do not apply sound during Factory Reset:

It is important not to apply any sound via the Audio-In/Digital-In connector during factory reset. This is because the unit attempts to zero-out any offset of silence during that process.
