Test DVD Player

This topic guides you through an initial test that the FMP device can control your DVD, VCR, or CD player. Follow the instructions below for this initial test.

These instructions assume you are using a DVD player. If you are using a VHS Player, CD Player or something else, substitute those words accordingly.

Step 1.

Insert a DVD movie into the Player.

Step 2.

Press Play on the DVD Remote Control.
Most DVDs required that you also press "Enter" to get the DVD to start playing. You must be past the FBI warnings and any ads.

Step 3.


Proper FMP placement
Place the FMP device in front of the player so the IR-OUT LED is roughly pointed toward the front of the DVD Player.

Step 4.

With the FMP powered up, press the Test Button. The DVD player should be controlled according to the Audio Detect light.

CAUTION: Don't hold the Test Button more than about 15 seconds or you will enter Infrared Capture mode.
