FMP Tips: BrainMaster
|
We've found the best way to use Brainmaster is to invert everything, and play a tone when the
patient is out of the zone. Unfortunately, this means you will have to force the inversion on the
BrainMaster side as it doesn't have the means to do that and run as you normally would. This means that
inhibit becomes enhance and enhance become inhibit, and the percentages have to be complemented as well.
Here are some specific instructions to get you started.
- Use the Sound Control method of interfacing.
- Connect the Audio Cable from the speaker output of your PC to the Audio In
Connector of the FMP.
- Adjust the threshold knob to about a middle setting.
- Play the test sound file to make sure it responds correctly. Turn the volume up on your PC.
- Using BioMedia, click Invert Play Polarity
- Set Minimum Hold On and Off both to 0.
- Select Enable Soft threshold
- Enter the value 120 for the threshold.
- Click Save Settings
Now, in the BrainMaster software, you will need to set everything backwards, so that the sound is made
just as the patient exits "the zone." Once you get the idea it is not too bad.
Set up as follows for DVD playing (60% autothresholding):
- Theta
- Enhance
- Auto-Threshold: 40% (red number is 40). This actually means 60% because it is inverted.
- Beta
- Inhibit ("Stop")
- Auto-threshold: 60% (red number is 60). 60% means 60% this time. I know it's confusing.
- Select Reward Sounds
Set up as follows for BioPad (Game playing) (80% autothresholding):
- Theta
- Enhance
- Auto-Threshold: 20% (red number is 20). This actually means 80% because it is inverted.
- Beta
- Inhibit ("Stop")
- Auto-threshold: 80% (red number is 80).
- Select Reward Sounds
