Development - Web Infrastructure & Embedded Systems
Cognisys can offer contract development services... Design, programming, and product development.
We are experienced with: Perl, Java, JavaScript, Apache, Linux/Unix, PC environment,
Object-oriented methologies, MySQL, DBI, ImageMagick, HTML, XML, Samba. We have our own OO
web-form design approach, which encapsulates form elements and error highlighting
to create a highly user-friendly UI and one that expedites application development.
Our intimacy with internet protocols provides additional support for unusual applications.
Here are some examples of some successful development projects:
ImagingWeb.com integrates several facets of our expertise... This site provides
high-resolution digital prints of artwork, paintings, photography, celebrities. It is
probably over 95% active, driven from a server-based Perl application. Has the following
cool features:
- Automated Galleries, Portfolios, Collections:
Visitors to the site can browse, search, and purchase image products. This is
entirely database driven, and automatically caches thumbnails of various sizes to
improve loading times. Visitors can "Join" to allow saving of their favorite images to their
own "Favorites" collection.
- Large Automated Affiliate Interface:
Affiliates can sign-up, create portfolios, create collections, upload images,
and then modify those images (rotate, brightness, contrast, crop) while still
respecting the original high-resolution image. Automatically creates thumbnail
images and applies optional visual watermarks. Maintains high-resolution images in an off-server
archived that are automatically transferred to the server when a sale is made or when
the affiliate requests that the collection is "Unlocked".
The affiliate interface shows the sales of each image product, and lets the
affiliate maintain data records on each product, including caption, original creation date,
artist, keywords, category, etc. These data records are used to display the product and to
assist with searches.
One nice feature is that the program will extract PhotoShop-style image information
from JFIF files (.JPG) when they are uploaded!
- Robust Fulfillment and Administration Backend:
The backend provides the ability to process credit-cards, checks or other payment, and assign
the printing job to one of a multiple of fulfillment centers. Calculates the earnings for
the fulfillment centers according to individualized contract provisions, creates shipping
label, and credits the affiliate accordingly.
- Shipping Calculator:
Calculation of shipping charges, especially for international shipment by various carriers
is provided... Can be adapted to your application if you don't have this cool module.
The WhoisAgent application can provide a list of available domain names based on a set
of root words and a set of extensions. For example, if you have a site selling wine,
your root words might be "wine", "vino", "cork", "bottle". Extension words are such as
"Depot", "Houseof", "web", etc. The program combines these together to form up to
10,000 domain-name lookups. Due to throttling on the whois servers, this may take several hours.
When the Agent completes the assignment, it will send email and make a web-based report
available.
This application is not available to the public due to the high resource consumption
on a given job, but we can still run jobs for you if you need such information.
You would be surprised how many great .com domain names still are available!
This hosting service front-end was a great labor saver for our client, but it sadly
is no longer used as the company was purchased during the peak of the dot-com
fever. Cognisys may be reintroducing this application for support of its own hosting services.
As mentioned in the Data-Mining page we have developed a mining
engine that can mine virtually any public or private database or web interface. Please let us
know if we can help you with your mining chores!
Keep up on the latest in your field... We mine the public press releases and provide a
concise summary for you, with links to the full press releases and patent disclosures.
Let us know if you would like us to set up a weekly report!
Cognisys created the SlimSmart weight-loss device in conjunction with Adaptra Corporation.
This device using pacing (slowing of your eating pace) and "adaptive biofeedback" (indicating
when you should stop based on weight goal and your eating behavior) to encourage weight loss!
Would you like to fine-tune your weight... Get one today! Free on-line trial... no obligation!
Uses SMOS Masked IC, custom LCD and (optionally) uses Chip-on-Board assembly methodology. Our group
designed the initial product (sold today) as well as the custom plastic tool for high-volume
production in Asia.
We continue to provide support for some printer controller and device drivers in the MFP space.
Contact us if you have any requirements. Developed MFPI engine for Rockwell (now Conexant) based on
IS-650.
Our group has been involved with a wide variety of electronics, firmware, and FPGA development,
including the following sample projects:
- Fax/Data Modem boards
primarily based on Conexant chip technology.
- Memory Boards
For a variety of products, such as HP and Lexmark printers. Projects included reverse
engineering existing microcontrollers and programming COPS or PIC microcontrollers. Also generated
FPGA design that was earmarked for masked gate-array but market disappeared for those products at that point.
- Solar-Energy Charge Controllers
Designed a set of solar-energy charge controllers for use with commodity
solar arrays and batteries.
- Muscle-Stimulator
Refined design of a muscle stimulator (TENS) unit, designed a PCB to decrease size.
- Font Cartridges
Reverse Engineered DeskJet font cartridge to produce 25-in-1 design.
- VCR Bio Interface
Uses a PIC microcontroller to support the biofeedback practitioners.
